How to Build a Tabletop Dolly
December 2007

This tutorial describes how to build a three/four wheeled tabletop dolly. It allows you to do smooth straight or curve pathed dolly camera shots, mounts a tripod head, and costs under $20. It isn't limited to tabletop or ground shots if you build a track, which is as simple as putting a long piece of plywood accross two stands, perfect for traditional dolly shots as well. Built completely from hardware store materials and simple tools.

How to Build a 35mm Adapter - Work in Progress
December 2007

This shows you how to build a still camera lens adapter for your video camera so you can use wide, macro, telephoto, or any photography lenses. This will get you a more "film-like" image with thinner depth of field if you desire. Total price is $180, compared to the price of prebuilt ones is pretty nice. It's a great adapter and allows you to use really any lenses. It looks really cool too.

How to Create Lightsabers in Apple Motion
May 2004

I made this tutorial almost immediately after installing Final Cut Studio when I got my PowerMac G5. I based it on the method created by Ryan Wieber and translated it to Apple Motion. This spread around the Motion community. There are a lot of flaws, but it gets people started with the effect. I planned on doing one that showed you how to do clashes, ignitions, retractions, curved tips and hilts, etc. but I just got too busy. Maybe some other time.
